The primary definition of liturgy is „public works“, or „serving the public“. Through a traditional Christian context said words express, a nation under Gods performs „God’s works“. During the liturgy itself Christ, our savior and high priest, through and with his church continue the works of salvation..

Thus the liturgy is held as the fulfillment of duties intended for Christ’s priesthood, through which blessings are bestowed to all people through physical, and visual means, and the mystical body of Christ, which is our focus and what the church and its members publicly adore and worship. From this all liturgical blessings flow, like Christ the high priest and his body- the church from which works flow, of which being sacred in nature. No other church action or degree can compare with its magnitude (Catechism of the Catholic Church)
